Utah Ice Hockey Club right winger Dylan Guenther of Edmonton, Alberta, has been named the National Hockey League’s first Star of the Week, according to Alex Tumalip of The Hockey News on Monday. In three games, Günther scored five goals for five points.

Guenther was also a +1 with two power play points, a game-winning goal, 12 shots on goal, a hit, a blocked shot and a faceoff win. Guenther started the week with two goals in Utah’s 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on October 8th. That was followed by two more goals in Utah’s 5-4 overtime win over the New York Islanders on Thursday and then another goal in Utah’s 6-5 overtime win over the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Günther’s most significant goal was the winner in overtime against the Islanders. It came from defenseman Sean Durzi of Mississauga, Ont., and Logan Cooley at 2:18 of overtime. In the same game against the Islanders, Guenther scored a power play goal from Clayton Keller and Mikhail Sergachev. Guenther’s other power-play goal came from Peterborough, Ont.’s Barrett Hayton and Nick Schmaltz.

After four games this season, Utah sits in third place in the Central Division with a record of three wins and one loss and six points. The next game is on Wednesday in Anaheim.
