DJ Akademiks diz as Young Thug
DJ Akademiks is known for sharing his thoughts on the rap scene on his Off The Record podcast, as well as his Instagram and Twitch. One of the most popular media personalities in the United States, Akademiks makes a point of talking about emerging artists and what they did to get this job, and he will also be posting sales screenings on a regular basis.
On Wednesday morning, Ak updated his Twitter page with the latest sales projections for Canadian rapper Drake, Certified Lover Boy in its seventh week and Young Thug for Punk in its first week. He noted that the two are together for number one on next week’s charts with 82,000 album units sold, respectively.
But with these numbers, Ak was confident enough to say that Thugger is not a “giant” in the rap world. Young Thug’s debut album So Much Fun debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 131,000 units in its first week. Slime Language 2, the album released by Thug’s subcontractor YSL Records, also reached No. 1 with 113,000 units sold in its first week.
However, Thug’s number declined with Punk, dropping by around 30,000 units. This prompted Ak to claim that Young Thug just doesn’t have the influence his fans think he has. “By the way, I’m honest and like I said, any artist who doesn’t sell 100K is not a giant in the rap world! Even Thug, “Ak said no Twitter.
“I see him as an executive who would rather grow up with YSL than see his solo endeavors like Rick Ross when he began to prepare more for his business than his own music. Thug is still a legend, but not that much “.
Punk received both good and bad reviews from fans, and it’s clear Akademiks wasn’t the album’s biggest fan.

Drake and Young Thug are both currently expected to sell around 80-85K in the first week! They are fighting for the # 1 album next week on the charts!

I understand why the hella rappers dodged Drake’s release date and delayed their albums because of him… if he’s competing with young rogue first week sales in his 7th week… that doesn’t make sense .

By the way, I’m honest like I said. Any artist who doesn’t sell 100K is not a big guy! Same thug. I see the thug as an ex trying to push YSL rather than seeing his solo efforts as where Rick Ross was when he started pushing MMG more than his own music. Thug still a legend but #s do not lie
