Corus Entertainment is ceasing production of Entertainment Tonight Canada, the company announced Wednesday morning.
In a statement released by Corus CEO Doug Murphy, the broadcaster’s decision reflected “the ongoing advertising recession and a challenging media landscape, as well as the costs of producing a daily entertainment news magazine.”

“None of this detracts from the caliber of the award-winning show, its content and the dedicated and talented ET Canada team,” Murphy wrote. “We sincerely thank the team for their meaningful contributions over 18 years, entertaining our global television audience night after night.”
Corus is the parent company of Global News.
The final broadcast date of Entertainment Tonight Canada is October 6, 2023. Encore specials celebrating the history and impact of ET Canada will air in the same time slot through October 31.
Entertainment Tonight Canada staff were informed of the decision on Wednesday morning.
Murphy said the decision was part of Corus’ focus on current and future priorities.
