Contemporary Canadian Film Series with Master Class and Free Lectures | information

Soda Films and the Embassy of Canada in Peru and Bolivia continue to present, in a virtual way, the cycle “Contemporary Canadian Cinema: 50 years of the FNC”, thus celebrating the 50 years of the oldest festival in Canada, the Festival du Nouveau. Movie theater. of Montreal (FNC).

In addition to the three feature films and seven shorts on the billboard, there will be lectures and a masterclass with Canadian director Matthew Rankin.

The masterclass with outstanding director Matthew Rankin will take place on Saturday July 31 at 4:00 p.m. and provide details on the career of the Canadian director.

Rankin is recognized for his expressionist style linked to ancestral concepts of cinema. This style is present in several of his shorts such as Negativipeg (2010), Tabula rasa (2012), Mynarski mortal fall (2014) and Tesla: Light mundial (2017), which has earned him several nominations for the Canadian Screen Awards.

His first feature film “The Twentieth Century” (The Twentieth Century) received the Fipresci Prize of the Berlin International Film Festival and will be presented in this cycle.
