Connor Ingram recorded his sixth career National Hockey League shutout on Saturday. He achieved this feat in the Arizona Coyotes’ 6-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Ingram made eight saves in the first period, 16 in the second period and 14 saves in the third period. Wild left winger Kirill Kaprizov led Minnesota with five shots on goal.
On offense, Alexander Kerfoot from Vancouver, British Columbia scored the game-winning goal for Arizona. He scored a power play goal at 5:07 of the first period from defenseman Sean Durzi of Mississauga, Ont., and Clayton Keller. Durzi, who had two assists, was one of two Canadians with a multi-point game. The other was Jack McBain of Toronto, Ontario, who also had two assists.
Ingram now leads the NHL with five shutouts this season. He has a record of 15 wins, eight losses, a goals-against average of 2.51 and a save percentage of .919. Ingram’s four shutouts so far this season include a 2-0 Coyotes victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on November 25th, a 6-0 Coyotes victory over the Washington Capitals on December 4th and a 1-0 victory by the Coyotes over the San Jose Sharks on December 15th and in a 2-0 Coyotes win over the Anaheim Ducks on December 29th. Ingram’s shutout last season came in a 1-0 Arizona win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Feb. 15.
With the win, the Coyotes improve to a record of 21 wins, 18 regulation losses and two overtime losses, a combined 44 points. They are three points behind the Edmonton Oilers for a playoff spot.
