Claire Dalton of Toronto, Ontario, was named the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s inaugural Star of the Week for the week of February 19-25. In two games, the Montreal forward scored three goals, three points, was +3 with six shots on goal, a shorthanded goal and a game-tying goal.
Interestingly, the shorthanded goal and the game-winning goal came in the same game in which Dalton scored her first career PWHL hat trick in Montreal’s 6-3 win over Ottawa on Saturday. The shorthanded marker came from Kati Tabin of Winnipeg, Manitoba, with one minute and 48 seconds left in the second period, giving Montreal a 2-1 lead at that point. Dalton’s game-winning goal came at 8:30 of the third period by Erin Ambrose of Keswick, Ont., and Marie-Philip Poulin of Beauceville, Quebec, giving Montreal a 4-2 lead at that point.
For the season, Dalton has five goals and one assist for six points. She is a +5 with 17 shots on goal.
Dalton is part of a Montreal team that is currently leading the PWHL. The franchise has a record of five wins, three overtime wins, three overtime losses and two overtime losses, for 24 points. In the PWHL you get three points for a regulation win, two points for an overtime win and one point for an overtime loss.
