The rating applies to vehicles manufactured after September of this year, following an improvement in light performance and the addition of the Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEB) as part of standard equipment.
“Achieving the highest IIHS safety rating, the TSP +, is recognition of Chrysler Pacifica’s safety technology and superior performance,” said Chris Feuell, CEO, Chrysler brand. “Pacifica is the perfect choice for modern families looking for a minivan that offers the best combination of safety, functionality and value. “
Chrysler Pacifica received a “Good” rating, the highest possible rating, in all six major impact tests conducted by the IIHS:
Front impact with limited travel (driver’s side)
Front impact with limited displacement (passenger side)
Frontal impact with moderate displacement
Side impact
Roof strength
Headrests and seats
The AEB, standard on Chrysler Pacifica, has been rated “Superior,” the highest rating awarded by the IIHS. This element has a combination of cameras, sensors and radars that provide a wider field of view than the previous system.
AEB, which is becoming the standard across the entire Stellantis product line, detects when certain frontal collisions may be imminent. If a risk of impact is identified, the vehicle generates visual and audible alerts.
If the driver does not respond, the system can activate the vehicle’s brakes to help avoid the impact or reduce its severity.
For its part, the automatic emergency pedestrian braking system obtained an “Advanced” rating.
