As Christmas Celebrations in Canada can be canceled. Canada’s Thanksgiving Day was only October, and the country saw the aftermath when covid-19 cases hit record highs.
Now Canadian leaders say the Christmas celebrations are in danger.
After all, Thanksgiving in Canada fell on October 12 of this year and, with the gathering of family and friends, it has generated a widespread increase in coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and deaths.
So public health officials have warned that the healthcare system cannot handle a Christmas rehearsal.
“Reducing your contacts, reducing your meetings will be the most important. And what we do in the days and weeks to come will determine what we do for Christmas, ”Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asked at a press conference on Friday (13).

Occasional socialization has been the main source of the spread in almost all parts of Canada, said Dr. Theresa Tam, director of public health for Canada.
“A major factor in the increase in infections continues to be informal social gatherings. As well as activities inside and outside our homes, ”Tam said. “In these more relaxed environments, such as family reunions, birthdays, vacations and recreational activities, it is natural to relax. But it can mean it’s easy to forget and let your guard down on needed care.
Additionally, Tam warned that daily new cases could more than double in just a few weeks if Canadians do not take health precautions seriously.
Health care is a provincial responsibility, and many, including Ontario and Alberta, are reluctant to implement more stringent measures, fearing they will hurt the economy.
However, hundreds of doctors across Canada have warned that only tougher measures and targeted closures will protect Canadian hospitals from the disaster.
