Juno Award-nominated comedian Nick Nemeroff died Monday at the age of 32. The Canadian-born stand-up comedian’s debut album, “The Pursuit of Comedy Has Ruined My Life,” was nominated for a Juno Award last year. According to an obituary on the website of a Montreal funeral home, Nemeroff died suddenly Monday. The agency that handles the comedian and his family announced his death late Monday. The cause of death has not yet been announced.

In 2020, while promoting the release of his comedy album, Nemeroff told CBC, “I love stand-up and jokes more than anything else, unfortunately, and this album is the culmination of what I’ve been doing every night for the last seven years.”

Nemeroff’s manager, Morgan Flood of Grand Wave Entertainment, told CBC News that he did not know the cause of death, but that he “died in his sleep.”

At the age of 28, Nick Nemeroff appeared on Conan O’Brien’s late-night show.

He has also performed at Montreal’s Just for Laughs, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. He was also part of CBC Gem’s The New Wave of Standup. Most recently, the standup comedian was seen on CTV Comedy’s Roast Battle Canada.

Nick grew up in Montreal-West and attended the Royal West Academy. The comedian graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with a degree in radio and television programming.

In an Instagram post, his family paid tribute to the late comedian, calling him a “comedian’s comedian” and praising “his unique cadence, labyrinthine dry humor and fresh take on misleading comedy.”

“Infinitely kind, helpful to others, humble about his many skills and accomplishments, Nick Nemeroff lived his life doing what he loved and that is how he will be remembered,” the post said.

Meanwhile, the agency representing him wrote: “We have been so proud to watch Nick grow into one of Canada’s most loved and respected comedians.”

Although funeral details were not made public, Nemeroff’s family asked those in attendance to make donations in his name to Planned Parenthood of their choice.
