Canadian election, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau threatens to lose to rookies

MONTREAL, KOMPAS.com – A Canadian election will be held on Monday (9/20/2021), and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau risks losing to rookie Erin O’Toole, leader of the Conservative Party.

According to a compiled Canadian election survey AFP, the two main parties that have governed Canada since its confederation in 1867 are in statistical heat.

Each garnered the support of 32% of Canadian election respondents, while the left-wing New Democrats lag far behind.

If the numbers don’t change, Canada’s electoral situation in 2019 could repeat itself as Trudeau’s once-powerful giant party is reduced to a minority government.

“The fight is intensifying between the two political parties”, declared the surveyor Jean-Marc Léger AFP.

Leger continued, in the election in Canada this time around, it appears that there was no candidate who impressed voters, so it will be more like an elimination rather than a vote based on belief.

When Trudeau withdrew his government in early August to force a Canadian election, he climbed high in the poll.

Canadians are very supportive of its response to the pandemic as it provides BLT (Cash Direct Aid) to workers and businesses.

Vaccinations against Covid-19 in Canada are also going well, despite the first missteps.

That way, it looks like Trudeau could get another majority of the vote in the Canadian election.

Trudeau himself still leads the election in Canada, but scandals and ethical lapses tarnish his golden image, while his government shows signs of wear and tear after six years in power.

The call for Canadian elections just as the country emerges from the pandemic has also angered many voters, whom opposition leaders are using to smear Trudeau.

“There are more people who have a bad opinion of Justin Trudeau today than before the campaign,” Léger said ahead of the Canadian election.
