Canadian airline WestJet resumed his services from Gregorio Luperón International Airport to port Plata at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), marking the restart of tourist flights between Canada and the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
Dominican airports 21st century (Aerodom) indicated that the new WestJet operation will arrive every Tuesday from Toronto at 1:25 p.m. and depart Puerto Plata for the same city at 2:15 p.m.
“With this flight, the operations of one of the main tourist source markets on the north coast of the country have resumed. Likewise, the possibilities for Dominican passengers to visit several destinations in North America are developing, ”added the airport company.
WestJet’s new operation is carried out on board a Boeing 737-800 with a capacity of 174 passengers, 12 seats in premium cabin and 162 in economy class.
The weekly flight that was inaugurated will have an additional frequency in November, offering direct flights to Toronto on Tuesdays and Saturdays, as starting December 16, WestJet will have a daily flight to / from Toronto Pearson Airport.
Carlos Rodoli, representative of Aerodom in Puerto Plata, expressed his satisfaction to see the resumption of the routes and the number of passengers maintained by the Gregorio Luperón airport.

We hope that the trade and tourism generated by this new route will contribute to the economic growth of our province, ”he added.
