Canada wins gold at the WS in women’s 3×3 basketball in Edmonton

Team Canada competes in the women’s 3×3 basketball competition Olympic Games 2024 in Paris in top form. On Saturday, the Canadians won a Women’s 3×3 Basketball World Series event in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Canadian team, consisting of Katherine and Michelle Plouffe of Edmonton, along with Kacie Bosch of Lethbridge, Alberta, and Paige Crozon of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, won all five of their matches over the weekend. In Group A, Canada beat Australia 19-10, Puerto Rico 21-10, and Chile 21-5. Canada then beat Spain 21-10 in the semifinals and silver medalists USA 21-11 in the gold medal game. Australia and Spain both won bronze medals in Edmonton.

In Canada’s win over Australia, Katherine Plouffe led Canada with 10 points and seven rebounds. Bosch led Canada with four key assists. In Canada’s win over Puerto Rico, Crozon led Canada with nine points. Katherine Plouffe led Canada with six rebounds and five key assists. In Canada’s win over Chile, Crozon led Canada with nine points. Katherine Plouffe and Bosch led Canada with three rebounds and Michelle Plouffe led Canada with four key assists. In Canada’s win over Spain, Crozon led Canada with nine points. The Plouffe sisters, Crozon and Bosch, all had three rebounds and Michelle Plouffe led Canada with three key assists. In Canada’s win over the United States, Michelle Plouffe led Canada with 14 points. Katherine Plouffe led Canada with six rebounds and five key assists.

This was Canada’s second consecutive medal at a Women’s 3×3 Basketball World Series event in Canada. Last weekend in Quebec City, Team Canada won the bronze medal, finishing behind two teams from the United States. Spain also won a bronze medal. The Canadian team consisted of Bosch, Crozon, Cassandra Brown of Vernon, British Columbia, and Mackenzie Smith of Shelburne, Nova Scotia. Canada’s most notable wins were against Chile and Spain by a score of 21-15. In Canada’s win over Chile, Smith led Canada with eight points and Brown with ten rebounds. In Canada’s win over Spain, Smith led Canada with ten points and Crozon led Canada with five rebounds and two key assists.

Canada leads the women’s 3×3 world rankings with 410 points. France is in second place with 350 points.
