Canada prepares to open its borders after pandemic

Due to the decrease in new cases of Covid-19 In recent weeks and with the advancement of vaccination in the country, Canadian authorities have announced the relaxation of their travel restrictions, as a first step towards reopening of its borders.

What changes will there be in the travel restrictions?

By a press release, the Public Health Agency of Canada detailed what will be the first changes in their restrictions for travelers National and international; these settings will mark the start of a reopening prudent and progressive in their limits.

Who is authorized to enter Canada?

Also eligible are temporary workers with the relevant authorization, emergency service providers, students specializing in healthcare, people who perform medical deliveries, installation, repair or maintenance technicians; farmers, members of the Navy or Air Force, international students from an institution validated by Canadian authorities and participants in international sporting events.

If you do not fit into any of these categories, you will be refused entry. in the country until the restrictions for tourists or others non-essential travelers.

Who are considered “fully vaccinated”?

The above travelers will only be considered “fully vaccinated” if they have already received both doses of a vaccine or a combination of vaccines. accepted by the government of Canada, such as those developed by Pfizer, Modern, AstraZeneca and Johnson & johnson.

Likewise, the vaccine should be applied at least 14 days before your arrival at Canada. It is important that eligible people show proof of vaccination in English, French or accompanied by a certified translation.

What else does it take to enter the country?

In addition to proof of vaccination, an electronic travel authorization is required (AVE); it is an entry condition for Mexican citizens which flies towards Canada for short stays of six months or less.

What if I am not vaccinated?

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers are not eligible for exemption from quarantine in a hotel authorized by the authorities, and will need to be tested for Covid-19 after a week of arrival at CanadaIRCC said.
