Canada is the place where the world wants to study.
According to new search by Remitly money transfer platform, Canada is the most sought after country to study abroad, with students from 36 countries drawn to the country.
“Everywhere from Colombia to Jordan, [students are] seek to study the most here, ”said Remitly.
Not only did Canada win, but it outperformed the competition.
Spain, second, was the most sought after destination in 13 countries. England took third place, sought after by students from 10 countries.
Japan, France and the United States are tied for fourth place with Australia rounding out the top five.
Among Canadian students, France was the most sought after country to study abroad.
The study analyzed the average monthly search volume for phrases commonly associated with study abroad, such as “study at (place)”, “university at (place)” and “university courses at (place)”, in 164 countries.
Remitly has discovered that students are drawn to Canada for its sprawling cities, stunning scenery, notoriously friendly people, good health care, and good job prospects.
Canada also has 10 of the top 250 universities in the world – the University of Toronto, McGill University and the University of British Columbia to name a few.
The searches also looked at top universities, with U of T ranking seventh out of 25 institutions. The most wanted was Harvard.
“It’s not hard to see why Canada is so far ahead of the competition in our research, with people from 36 countries looking to study here,” Remitly said.
“Sharing your studies abroad for part or all of your course can be one of the most exciting prospects in student life … With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions around the world, the possibility learning elsewhere becomes a reality again. “
