Canada won its second consecutive silver medal at the International Para Hockey Cup on Sunday.
In the gold medal final, the Canadians lost 4-1 to the USA.
Captain Tyler McGregor of Forest, Ont., scored Canada’s only goal on the power play 3:34 into the third period, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
Adam Kingsmill of Smithers, B.C., stopped 28 of 31 shots on net.
“We went back to making it difficult for our opponents to get good scoring chances. “Our defensive coverage was good, we moved the puck pretty well when we had it and we had some good opportunities up the ice that we couldn’t capitalize on,” Canada head coach Russ Herrington said.
“This is the best performance that our team can achieve and that is why all employees are satisfied with their performance. We saw a lot of growth from our younger players who have never been in this situation before and they performed well today.”
Declan Farmer led the Americans with a hat trick and an assist, while Malik Jones scored second with three assists.

Canada finished the preliminary round with a record of 1:2. The Canadians defeated the Czech Republic in their tournament opener before losing their next two games to the USA and Team IPH.
Canada secured its place in Sunday’s game with a 4-1 win over Team IPH in Saturday’s semifinals.
