Today, Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities, and Saskatchewan Government Relations Minister Don McMorris announced joint funding of more than $44.6 million for 28 projects infrastructure across Saskatchewan.
Among the recipients of the investments announced today is the Town of Meadow Lake. Funding will go towards a recreational, cultural and community gathering center for the benefit of town residents and surrounding communities. The center will include an NHL-sized ice rink, a recreational rink and a pavilion with concession stands. An event room will also be available to host community gatherings such as weddings, funerals, charity fundraisers and other community events.
South of the Battlefords, Mosquito Grizzly Bears Head Lean Man First Nation will build a new interpretive cultural art gallery. It will provide an Indigenous healing circle on land, language and relationships focused on Indigenous mental health and well-being. Additionally, the Gallery will share the history and stories of residential schools and survivors and showcase works by First Nations artists from surrounding communities.
YWCA Regina will build a dedicated healing space and ceremonial pavilion as part of its Women and Family Center project, allowing people using their services to access ceremonies, elders, traditional knowledge, medicine and education.
The Government of Canada is investing more than $25.4 million in these 28 projects. The Government of Saskatchewan is contributing $19.2 million. Recipients contribute more than $14.6 million to these projects.

“The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to invest more than $19.2 million in these important infrastructure projects,” said McMorris. “Local infrastructure initiatives will help maintain a healthy environment, improve the transportation network and provide more cultural and recreational opportunities. Together, we will build a stronger Saskatchewan that is home to a strong economy, strong communities and strong families.
“With federal and provincial funding, as well as the continued support of our community, the Melfort & District Curling Club can continue to move forward with its project to revitalize key ice rink infrastructure,” said Melfort Curling Revitalization Project Chair Kerrie DeGooijer. “Once complete, the Melfort and District Curling Club rink roof renovation and ice plant replacement project will extend the life of the facility we use, which in turn will provide healthy recreational and social activities for all ages in this area of Saskatchewan for years. come.”
