Cam Daniels is a co-winner of the 2022 Jack Burrows Memorial Award for Athletic Achievement

It was a record year for Cam Daniels during the 2021-2022 OCAA volleyball season.

The fourth-year setter at Canadore College achieved some important milestones while playing for the Canadore Panthers men’s volleyball team.

In addition to being named a First Team All-Star, he was also named OCAA East Division Player of the Year.

The Widdifield Secondary School graduate averaged 7.37 assists per set in seven games for a total of 199 assists, setting a new season record at Canadore College. Daniels also contributed 21 kills, seven service aces, 32 digs, 21 blocks and 49 points.

Cam also became the program’s all-time leader in assists and was the first Canadian male athlete to be named a CCAA All-Canadian. This outstanding performance contributed to an East Division Championship for Canadore College.

“It’s a really nice feeling to be recognized for this award. Being part of this program has done so much for my development as an athlete and as a person,” said Daniels.

“I would not have been able to achieve what I have done without the guidance and support of my teammates/coaches. I will forever cherish the moments I had as a Panther,” he said.

“It’s so much more than just a game and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been offered over the years. I am extremely grateful to everyone who has put their time and effort into our program and made it possible for us to play the game we love.”

Daniels said he also wanted to give special thanks to the coaching staff, coaches Budhram, Humphrey, Cundari and Hopper.

“Your trust, mentoring, dedication and support help everyone who goes through the program grow in all aspects of life.”
