BRK Ambiental, a private basic sanitation concessionaire present in more than 100 Brazilian municipalities, in partnership with the Canadian NGO Waterlution and the Pernambuco CESAR innovation center, has opened registration for the BRK Acelera Waterlution program, an initiative that encourages startups and entrepreneurs in the development of ideas and innovative solutions for water and sanitation services. Those interested should register through the website https://mateiais.cesar.org.br/brk-acelera until November 14th.
To participate in the program, it is necessary to form a team of at least two members. In addition, during registration, you must propose the projects in the form available on the site. Proposals will then be evaluated based on team profile and availability, project membership, degree of feasibility of the application, degree of impact, business and management model, maturity solution and alignment with Waterlution guidelines.
Among the guidelines are to facilitate and encourage regional and global collaboration, expand global mobilization of knowledge on water / sanitation and support the global community to progress towards the SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) related to sanitation, water security, climate and equity. Six teams will be selected to participate in the program and the dissemination of the selected projects is scheduled for the 24th of this month.
For approximately three months, participants will follow a series of online activities, with live transmission, and will focus on accelerating projects and validating ideas and solutions. The virtual meetings are intended to establish contacts with other entrepreneurs and experts in the sector, through individual and collective workshops and tutoring focused on professional and technical subjects.
As a result of the activity, projects can receive financial support from the organizers of Waterlution BRK Acelera or be invited to partnership actions. “We strongly value partnerships with startups in order to promote innovation in our operations, especially when they are linked to ESG practices. And we highlight the opportunity to offer a comprehensive and practical business vision to entrepreneurs, based on our expertise as one of the leading sanitation companies in the country ”, explains the director of BRK Ambiental in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim , Bruno Ravaglia.
The President and Founder of Waterlution, Karen Kun, highlights the NGO’s five years of work in Brazil and the opportunity to experience the technical knowledge, capacity for innovation and commitment of young leaders of the the country’s water and climate at the forefront of change. “Our long-standing partnership with BRK Ambiental and CESAR deepens with this new program and increases our ability to collaborate together, which will increase our collective impact and our solutions with the startups included in BRK Acelera,” he underlines.
For the coordinator of entrepreneurship projects at CESAR, Renata Sellaro, the program tends to accelerate the possibilities of innovation, by relying on real societal challenges. “Thus, we have widened the opportunity for those who undertake in this field, with projects supported by specialists in the most diverse fields of innovation, entrepreneurship and experts in the sector.”
