But the prime minister’s travel itinerary, which his office released on the day of his departure, does not include China.

Eby said in a statement that the foreign mission will strengthen BC’s trade and investment ties in the Indo-Pacific region, the world’s fastest-growing economic zone.

BC Cabinet Ministers Josie Osborne and Brenda Bailey, and New Democrat government Commerce Secretary Jagrup Brar, will accompany Eby on the trip.

The statement said the prime minister and his ministers will meet with government and business leaders in Asian countries on trade and investment issues and discuss partnership opportunities ranging from clean technology to critical minerals and communications technology.

The statement said Eby and his ministers will return on June 7.
