The roster of the Russian national ice hockey team for the World Championship quarter-final match against the Canadian team was posted on the national team’s Twitter page. The match will start in Riga on the ice of the Olympic Sports Center at 8.15 p.m. Moscow time.
The place in the goal will be occupied by National Hockey League (NHL) Florida Panthers goaltender Sergey Bobrovsky, for whom it will be the first game of the tournament. The goalkeeper arrived in Riga on May 29, after which he was in mandatory quarantine. Alexander Samonov, who was previously the main goalkeeper of the national team in the tournament, remained in reserve.

Compared to the last meeting of the group stage of the tournament against the Belarusians (6: 0) there is no Maxim Shalunov in the lineup, who has been replaced by Pavel Karnaukhov.

Florida were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs after being beaten by Tampa in the first round after six games. This season, Bobrovsky has played 31 games, scoring 19 wins, on average conceding 2.91 goals per game, or 90.6% of shots. In the playoffs, he played three matches.
During his performance at Columbus, Bobrovsky twice became the winner of the NHL’s regular season best goalie award – the Vezina Trophy (2013, 2017). He became the first Russian goalkeeper to win this award and is the only Russian goalkeeper to receive it twice. As a member of the Russian national team, Bobrovsky won the world championships in gold (2014), silver (2015) and bronze (2016).
In the group stage, the Russian national team have won six out of seven matches, scored 17 points and taken first place in Group A, edging their closest pursuer – the Swiss team by two points. The Canadians in Group B were fourth with three wins and four losses.
