Avril Lavigne announces dates for Canada

by Edwin Robertson

Avril Lavigne plans to keep it simple on her 2024 concert tour and perform only her biggest hits.

As part of a 27-day North American tour that begins in early summer, the “Complicated” pop singer is reducing her setlist to the songs that have shaped her career.

The “Avril Lavigne: The Greatest Hits” tour kicks off May 22 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, and promoters say it will include performances of “Sk8er Boi,” “Girlfriend,” “Here’s to Never Growing Up” and her other hit singles.

Other dates in Canada include Ottawa on August 14, Toronto on August 16 and Winnipeg on September 14. All three shows feature support from Montreal band Simple Plan, who rose to fame in the same pop-punk era.

Lavigne will also stop at the Festival International de Montgolfières on August 17 in the Montreal area and the final North American show of the tour on September 16 in Edmonton.

Advance ticket sales for the general public start on Friday at Ticketmaster.

The tour will travel through various European countries this summer, including Austria, the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Lavigne is one of many well-known artists telling fans that their latest tours will feature only their most popular songs. Madonna, Bush, the Pet Shop Boys and The Killers are among other musicians holding “greatest hits” tours this year.
