Arcade Fire covered Harry Styles on the BBC

by Ainsley Ingram

As part of the brand new advertising campaign WE, Arcade Fire versioned to Harry Styles on the BBC. The Canadian group performed “As It Was”, the latest single from the former One Direction, which gives its name to the album which will be released on Friday next week.

For the cover, as in several of their songs, the two main singers of the group divided up the roles: Win Butler was responsible for singing the verses, while his wife Régin Chassagne was responsible for the backing vocals and the bridge. The presentation was on the UK broadcaster’s Live Lounge program, where Arcade Fire also performed two other songs by WE: “Lightning I, II” Yes “The Age of Anxiety II (Rabbit Hole)”.

Shortly after the release of their latest album, the Canadian combo announced a world tour, which will see Beck and Feist open in the United States and Europe, respectively. The tour will kick off on August 30 in Dublin and continue to Manchester, London and Glasgow before continuing through France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland for the next two months. Arcade Fire will then spend the last two months of the year on the road through the United States and its native Canada, with no news of a Latin American leg for 2023 yet.
