Honoring a tradition spanning over 100 years, the Academia Mineira de Letras (AML) held its classic Christmas Mass last Thursday evening. The ceremony took place at the institution’s headquarters, at the Palacete Borges da Costa, on Rua da Bahia. The celebration was entrusted to the academic Dom Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo, current occupant of chair number 11, archbishop of Belo Horizonte and president of the CNBB.

ARMORIAL WITHOUT CCBB
One of the curiosities of the “Movimento Armorial –- 50 anos” exhibition, at CCBB-BH, the room dedicated to the costumes of Ariano Suassuna’s characters. The space gathers 12 drawings made by the plastic artist Francisco Brennand for the costumes of the film “A Compadecida” of 1969. preparing the reproduction of the other costumes of the main characters, Diabo, Joo Grilo, Jesus and the presenter, Palhao, who is, in fact, Ariano himself, ”says curator Denise Mattar. The exhibition, which remains visible until March 7, brings together drawings, woodcuts, costumes and collectibles that give the dimension of the Armorial Movement, born in the 1970s in Recife.
