Last Tuesday, before the Montreal Alouettes’ 37-18 home loss to the Toronto Argonauts in Week 6, the Alouettes signed two Canadians: kicker Michael Domagala from St. Catharines, Ontario, and defensive end Anthony Federico from Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Domagala joins his third franchise in the Canadian Football League. He previously spent 2021 and 2022 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and 2023 with the Ottawa Redblacks. Last season, he made eight of nine field goals, with the longest being 46 yards in a Redblacks 27-22 loss to the Argonauts on Oct. 28. In his career, Domagala has made 27 field goals in 35 attempts. He made a 52-yard field goal, the longest of his career, in a Tiger-Cats 30-13 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on June 11, 2022.

Federico moves to a second franchise after playing the past two seasons with the Tiger-Cats. In 23 games with Hamilton (10 in 2022 and 13 in 2023), he had 10 special teams tackles. The most special teams tackles Federico has had in a game is two, in the Tiger-Cats’ 48-31 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on September 17, 2022. Federico was on the roster for the Alouettes’ aforementioned loss to the Argonauts on Thursday.

Domagala and Federico both attended universities in Ontario. Domagala attended Carleton and Federico attended Queen’s.
