Akshay Kumar reveals he’s considered moving to Canada after his 14-15 films flopped at BO: ‘If fate doesn’t…’

Actor Akshay Kumar has recently spoken out about his Canadian citizenship and admitted that he holds Canadian citizenship. He further claimed that he was an Indian and will always be an Indian. The actor faced criticism after applying for Canadian citizenship.

Akshay Kumar has faced criticism after applying for Canadian citizenship and skipping voting in the Lok Sabha election. People started calling him “Canada Kumar”. Akshay revisited the issue, admitting that while he pays taxes in India, he still holds Canadian citizenship.

The Raksha Bandhan The actor said that his almost 14-15 movies didn’t work at the box office, so he considered moving and working elsewhere. He also revealed that his friend who lived in Canada suggested he move, so he went there, applied and got Canadian citizenship.

Speak with lallantopAkshay said: “A few years ago my films didn’t work. Almost 14-15 films didn’t work so I thought I should probably move somewhere else and work there.” A lot of people move there to work but they still do Indians. So I also thought that if fate doesn’t support me here, I should do something about it. I went there, applied for it (citizenship) and got it.”

He further added that he changed his mind after finding success again in India. He further claimed that he was an Indian and will always be an Indian.

He was quoted as saying: “I have a passport. What is a passport? It is a document used to travel from one country to another. See I’m Indian, I pay all my taxes and I pay them here. I have the choice to pay there too, but I pay them in my country. I work in my country. Lots of people say things and they’re allowed to. I just want to tell you that I am an Indian and I always will be an Indian.”

Akshay previously reported on his Canadian citizenship Coffee with Karan 7, where he performed with Samantha Ruth Prabhu. When Karan asked the actor about online trolling, he said: “The most you write about is Canada. Which I don’t care.” To which Karan mentioned, “The trolls call you Canada Kumar,” and Akshay replied, “Yeah Canada Kumar, okay, call me that.”
