Akshay Kumar renounces Canadian citizenship and confirms registration as Indian citizen: Dil Aur Citizenship, Dono Hindustani | Hindi Film News

Akshaykumar has always been embroiled in controversy over his Canadian citizenship. In 2019, the actor even applied for an Indian passport, but the pandemic delayed his plans.
To mark the 76th Independence Day, Akshay took to social media to announce that he was finally an Indian citizen. The actor shared a snap of his registration certificate announcing that he had renounced his previous citizenship as Canadian. The certificate was issued by the Ministry of the Interior. He proudly captioned the picture, “Dil aur Citizenship, dono Hindustani.” Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!” The actor previously shared that he felt hurt when people questioned his love for India, which is why he applied for the citizenship and passport change.
Akshay Kumar is currently banking on the success of ‘OMG 2’ which has grossed Rs 55 million at the box office in four days. Despite the strong competition from Sunny DeolIn “Gadar 2” this lead actor of Akshay Kumar managed to pull through.
