Air Canada is offering new live TV sports channels in time for the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs: Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet East, as well as TVA Sports, which will be available in May.
Live TV is currently available on selected domestic and international routes operated by the airline, which operates 100 Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Airbus A330, Airbus A321 (with new cabins) and Airbus A220 aircraft equipped with Live TV. It is free of charge and is part of the extensive in-flight entertainment program, which includes more than 1,400 hours of films, 1,900 hours of TV shows and more than 600 hours of music and podcasts.
“We are delighted to be the only Canadian airline with live TV to broadcast the Stanley Cup Playoffs on board. Hockey is an integral part of the Canadian identity, so it’s only natural that we offer it to our customers as part of our extensive in-flight entertainment program in French and English. These new channels further reinforce our commitment to Canadian soccer. Our commitment to hockey includes flights with all seven Canadian teams, jersey sponsorship of the Montreal Canadiens and being the official airline of the PWHL,” said John Moody, Managing Director, Onboard Product at Air Canada.
Air Canada’s live TV experience includes Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet East, which offer comprehensive coverage of the NHL and Stanley Cup Playoffs, Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Raptors, as well as NBA, MLB, Grand Slam of Curling and more (available on domestic flights only). In addition, TVA Sports offers comprehensive French-language coverage of the NHL and Stanley Cup Playoffs, WTA, Blue Jays and MLB games, UFC, EURO 2024 and more (available on domestic and international flights).
The operator says it also offers TSN and RDS, which provide comprehensive live coverage of major sporting events, including UEFA EURO 2024 and the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ this summer, as well as other sports such as ice hockey, basketball, soccer, baseball, golf and tennis, as well as auto racing.
In addition to BNN Bloomberg, CTV News Channel, Canada’s 24/7 news network, and LCN, Quebec’s news channel, are also available on select flights.
