Anaheim Ducks center Adam Henrique of Brantford, Ont., recorded his first career National Hockey League hat trick on Sunday. He achieved this feat in the Ducks’ 5-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Henrique scored the first goal at 1:46 of the second period on a power play from Alex Killorn of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Pavel Mintyukov. Henrique then gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead when Mintyukov and Troy Terry scored the game-winning goal at 11:17 of the second period. Then, at 14:12 of the third period, Henrique scored an unassisted, short-handed goal into an empty net to end the scoring streak.

There were two Canadians who scored for the Ducks. The other was Killorn.

In the 2023-24 season, Henrique scored nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 29 games. He was a -4 with 10 penalty minutes, six power play points, three shorthanded points, two game-winning goals, 46 shots on goal, 26 blocked shots, 18 hits, 12 takeaways and three giveaways. Henrique’s other game-winning goal this season came on November 14 in the Ducks’ 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators. Henrique scored at 16:09 of the third period through Urho Vaakanainen and Radko Gudas to tie the game at 2-2.

This was the Devils’ second hat trick of the past weekend. On Saturday, Jack Hughes scored three goals as the Devils defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3.
