Abbotsford gymnasts excel at Western Canada Gymnastics Championships

Athletes from Twisters Gymnastics Club win medals at last month’s event in Spruce Grove, Alta.





Athletes from Abbotsford’s Twisters Gymnastics Club took home multiple medals at the Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships, held in Spruce Grove, Alta. on April 27-29.

The championships offer athletes from across Western Canada the opportunity to compete for the title of Western Canada Gymnastics Champion.

Team BC’s women’s artistic gymnastics (WAG) team, which includes Twisters athletes, took home an impressive 44 of 96 medals up for grabs, including three team golds and three team silvers. Team BC’s men’s artistic gymnastics team (MAG), including Twisters athletes, also performed well, winning 44 medals.

The following locals took home medals:

  • Provincial 3: Parker Rowell-Laferriere (14 years old): Gold – high bar
  • Provincial 4: Nicholas Hajiadem (13 years): Bronze – Team BC (B)
  • CCP 10 (Category 12-15): Amelie Shea (age 13): Gold – Team BC and Silver – Vault
