Former top chef candidate Ruth Wigman is the new executive chef of Okanagan College Infusion restaurant.
Wigman’s 20-year career has taken her from coast to coast, and she now brings the experience gained during those adventures to the Okanagan College restaurant, which is run by culinary arts students.
Wigman, who appeared on Canada’s Excellent chef program in 2014, most recently worked as Executive Sous Chef at Fairmont Vancouver Airport for over three years. Prior to that, she worked at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Fairmount Southampton in Bermuda.
When she appeared on Top Chef, she was working at Bistro Sofia in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
She also appeared on Season 27 of Food Network’s Defeat Bobby Flay, released in January 2022.
Now Wigman is gearing up for the Okanagan foodie event, Dine Around.
“I look forward to sharing my passion for the culinary world with student chefs,” said Ms. Wigman, who took up her new role in January.
“Their energy and ideas are contagious. It will be my role to help them discover what it is like to work in a restaurant and show them how we can draw inspiration from local foods and the region in the dishes we prepare.
Infusions is a fully functional restaurant located on the campus of Okanagan College in Kelowna.
