The coaching staff of the Russian women’s hockey team decided on the composition for the Olympics

The coaching staff of the Russian national team has decided on the final composition of hockey players for participation in the Beijing Olympics, reports the press service of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (FHR).
The women’s hockey tournament at the Olympics will be held from February 3 to 17. Before its start, the Russian team will play two test matches with the teams of the Czech Republic (January 29) and China (January 31).

The team’s main roster includes 23 players:
- goalkeepers – Diana Farkhutdinova (“Dynamo-Neva”), Maria Sorokina (“Agidel”), Daria Gredzen (“Biryusa”);
- defenders – Angelina Goncharenko, Elena Provorova (both – SKIF), Ekaterina Nikolaeva (Dynamo-Neva), Maria Pechnikova, Anna Shibanova (both – Agidel), Nina Pirogova, Anna Savonina (both – Tornado);
- forward – Lyudmila Belyakova, Elena Dergacheva, Anna Shokhina (all – “Tornado”), Polina Bolgareva, Alexandra Vafina, Fanuza Kadirova (all – “Dynamo-Neva”), Oksana Bratishcheva, Victoria Kulishova (both – SKIF), Ekaterina Dobrodeeva, Valeria Pavlova (both Biryusa), Veronika Korzhakova, Ilona Markova, Olga Sosina (all Agidel).
The squad’s reserve list includes goalkeeper Valeria Merkusheva (SKIF), defender Liana Ganeeva (Dynamo Neva) and striker Polina Luchnikova (Agidel).
In the group stage, the Russian team will play against teams from Switzerland (February 4), USA (February 5), Canada (February 7) and Finland (February 8).
