Sports writing, December 17 (EFE) .- Rafael Nadal was satisfied after his return to competition after four months despite losing to Briton Andy Murray in the semi-finals of the Abu Dhabi tournament.

Nadal, who lost 6-3 7-5 in an hour and 49 minutes, stressed his satisfaction at coming back. “I am happy to find a place where I enjoyed so much”, declared on track, at the end of the meeting, the world number six.

The Spaniard indicated that he was well on the track although he accused of inactivity. “It wasn’t a bad game for me after such a long time,” added Nadal, who underlined the good level of play of his opponent, relegated to the circuit with a hip injury.

“I am happy to see Murray at this level,” added the Spanish tennis player who stressed the importance of seeing the hall again with the audience in the stands. “It’s a pleasure to be in Abu Dhabi and see the people, the spectators, after what happened with the pandemic. I really enjoyed that,” Nadal said.

Rafael Nadal will face Canada’s Denis Shapovalov on Saturday in the tournament’s consolation match. Russian Andrey Rublev and Briton Andy Murray will then play in the final.

The Scotsman was happy with his performance against an opponent like Nadal. “I am happy to have the opportunity to be with Nadal on the track again. This Rafa is back,” he said.
