WINNIPEG –

After a three-way tie in the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, Krista McCarville knocked out Kerri Einarson of Manitoba to advance to the semi-final game.

The tiebreaker was the second of the day, with Kerri Einarson defeating Casey Scheidegger on Saturday morning.

McCarville had the highest seed in the tiebreaker based on the cumulative results of the last stone draw, which earned him a pass for the second tiebreaker.

It wasn’t until the fifth end that McCarville opened the scoring, securing a 1-0 lead.

The Einarson team came back in the sixth end with the first tie of the game.

After another scoreless end, McCarville scored two runs in the eighth to make it 3-2.

Einarson blanked the ninth end to keep the hammer in the tenth, scoring just one point to equalize after the final stone slipped a bit too far.

In the eleventh end, McCarville knocked two of Einarson’s stones out of the house to win the game.

The final score of the match was 4-3 for McCarville.

McCarville will now face Jennifer Jones in the semi-finals on Saturday night.

Jones and seed Tracy Fleury clinched playoff spots earlier in the competition.

The winner of the semi-final will meet Fleury on Sunday morning for the right to represent Canada at the Olympic Winter Games February 4-20 in Beijing.
