Russian figure skater Katarina Gerboldt summed up the performance of the individual skaters during the Grand Prix stage in Japan. According to the results of two programs, Makar Ignatov became the fourth, and Alexander Samarin – the sixth. The athlete expressed the hope that they will ride more stable and take up higher places.

“I was always hoping the guys would be able to climb higher because Makar and Sasha have a pretty tough set in the quadruple arsenal. They can already compete with Japanese skaters and others. They don’t look like luckless boys anymore, they’ve gotten their bearings the past two seasons. Therefore, I want them to believe it themselves, to skate regularly, to take the right places and to qualify for the Grand Prix final, ”Herboldt told Gazeta.Ru.

She stressed that the two skaters have to fight to be part of the Olympic team. That’s exactly what they should be aiming for now, Herboldt is sure.

“I hope the guys have time to win something before the Russian championship. They are very talented and I would like them to show it not only in training but also in serious competitions. Each of them has a chance to fight for the Olympic team – it must be done, it must be sought. But for that, of course, you have to skate steadily, ”the figure skater concluded.

Formerly Katarina Herboldt appreciated performances of Russian singles in the short program of the Grand Prix in Canada.
