Chinese netizens sent their best wishes to Canadian singer Celine Dion after news of the star’s poor health began surfacing on Chinese social media on Wednesday.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the hashtag “Celine Dion is seriously ill” had been viewed 140 million times on Chinese Twitter Sina Weibo.
The star delayed her new residence in Las Vegas in late October due to health issues involving “severe and persistent muscle spasms”, which prevented her from attending rehearsals for the show.
“I’m sorry about this. My team and I have been working on our new show for the past eight months, and not being able to open this November saddens me beyond words. Now I have to focus on get better… I I want to get it over with as soon as possible, ”Dion wrote on Twitter.
Many Chinese netizens have taken to social media to show their support, and clips for her classic song “My Heart Will Go On” have gone viral on Sina Weibo again.
“We couldn’t lose another of the world’s most famous pop music singers! Her ‘My Heart Will Go On’ is the only song that has lived in my childhood memories for over 20 years. she will soon be able to recover, “wrote a Chinese netizen on Sina Weibo.
“I still remember her beautiful voice and her gorgeous golden dress at the 2013 CCTV Spring Festival gala. May her health get well soon,” another netizen wrote on Sina Weibo.
Dion caught the attention of people in China with her impressive and unique voice during her world concerts in Shanghai and Macau in 2008. In 2013, she was invited to attend the CCTV Spring Festival Gala where she performed sang the Chinese song “Molihua” (Jasmine flower in English) as well as a solo from her “My Heart Will Go On”.
