Canadian Prime Minister discusses Donbass conflict with President of Ukraine

Also, Trudeau and Zelensky discussed bilateral relations between Canada and Ukraine, the situation around the pandemic and the issues of climate change.

In September, Zelensky following talks in the United States with the American leader Joe biden said he was giving Biden options to include the United States in the Donbass dispute resolution format. In mid-October, the Ukrainian president declared that the “Norman format” is currently the only platform within which it is possible to resolve the issue of the resolution of the conflict in the Donbass.

The Normandy Format has been around since June 2014. Then, during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the landing of the Allied troops in Normandy, the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany discussed for the first time of the settlement of the conflict in the Donbass. Since then, five summits have taken place, the last on December 9, 2019 in Paris. In recent months, negotiations have taken place mainly at the level of political advisers and foreign ministries of the countries participating in the format.
