The 2022 FIVB Volleyball World Championship Commission highly appreciated the possibilities of Yekaterinburg

The last inspection visit took place in Yekaterinburg ahead of the 2022 Volleyball World Championship. The Commission highly appreciated the capacities and preparation of the host city, which will host teams from Italy, the United Kingdom next year. Canada, Turkey and China.

Pavel Krekov, Deputy Governor of the Sverdlovsk region: “An event of such magnitude that the Volleyball World Championship will become another bright page in the history of sports in the Urals. And that will give an additional boost to the development of this sport in our region ”.

Pavel Krekov also noted that the Sverdlovsk region is one of the country’s leaders in terms of sports performance and experience in organizing major international and pan-Russian tournaments.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the DIVS, where the volleyball matches of the first preliminary phase will take place at the end of August next year. Preparatory work continues in the region. Final approval of all items will take place in December 2021.

Stephen Tutton, Technical Director of the International Volleyball Federation: “We are counting very much on your support, the support of the organizing committee for the holding of this important event. In less than a year, we will be able to demonstrate the beauty of our sport to fans not only here, but also in 10 other cities. We hope this championship will be a great holiday for volleyball fans ”.
