Costco yogurt is being recalled for the second time in a month after manufacturer Danone Canada said the product may contain a type of yeast that could cause illness in immunocompromised people.
The recall affects Costco’s Kirkland Signature Probiotic Yogurt, which comes in 24-packs of 100-gram servings and was purchased from the company’s warehouses in Canada between Sept. 3 and Sept. 19, Danone Canada said in a notice posted Sept. 23 on the retailer’s website.
The best-before dates of the affected products are October 18, 20 and 22.10.
Danone added that the risk to food safety was low because the yeast does not grow at refrigerated temperatures.
The yogurt maker urged people not to consume the product and return it to a Costco warehouse for a full refund.
This is the second time in a month that a brand of yogurt sold at Costco has been recalled.
In early September, 24-packs of Kirkland Signature brand Greek yogurt were recalled by Costco due to mold.
According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the recalled products were distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
