According to the Canadian Soccer League On Tuesday, the British Columbia Lions will bring back quarterback Nathan Rourke from Victoria, British Columbia. The CFL’s most outstanding Canadian from the 2022 season played in the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons organizations. Rourke was released by the Falcons on August 11.

Rourke will look to get the Lions’ offense back on track. They have lost their last three games, all against divisional opponents. They lost 25-24 to the Calgary Stampeders on July 21, 25-0 to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on August 1 and 33-16 to the Edmonton Elks on August 11. In the crushing loss to the Blue Bombers, the Lions were only able to gain 86 passing yards in the entire game and quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. had to leave the game with a knee injury.

The Lions have confirmed that they do not intend to trade or release Adams Jr. The Lions have released quarterbacks Jake Dolegala and Brennan Armstrong. Dolegala was the Lions’ starting quarterback while Adams Jr. was injured.

In 18 games as the Lions’ quarterback in 2021 and 2022, Rourke completed 307 passes on 406 attempts for 4,103 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He also had 57 carries for 415 rushing yards and 12 touchdown runs.

The Lions are currently second in the Western Division with 10 points. Their record is five wins and four losses.
