CN expands its partnership with the Canada Sports Hall of Fame to support Indigenous athletes and sports creators.
A new three-year agreement valued at $450,000 will help recognize the significant contributions of Indigenous sports personalities and promote a better understanding of their impact on Canadian sport and culture, CN officials said in a news release.
CN has supported the Canada Sports Hall of Fame’s Indigenous Sport Heroes Experience educational program since 2021. The support began with the development of trading cards highlighting key Indigenous athletes and constructors, their Indigenous heritage and their contribution to sport in Canada.
As part of its new sponsorship beginning this year, CN will support the Canada Sports Hall of Fame’s digital book Indigenous Sport Heroes, a multimedia, web-based resource that raises awareness and shares the stories and influence of Indigenous sport heroes in shaping sport in Canada.
“These sporting icons have made invaluable contributions to our country and we are honored to share their legacy with future generations. We hope that by further raising awareness of the history of our country’s Indigenous peoples, we can foster a deeper understanding and greater respect for one another on the path to reconciliation,” said Olivier Chouc, CN’s Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer.
