Two more Canadians change teams in CFL free agency

Since the opening day of Canadian Football League free agency, two more Canadian natives have changed CFL franchises. Let’s take a look.

Ryan Sceviour

The Calgary, Alberta native signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 16th. Since 2016, he has played 66 games for the Calgary Stampeders and recorded two solo tackles as an offensive lineman. The solo tackles came in a 20-17 Stampeders loss to the Roughriders on October 23, 2021 and in a 22-19 Stampeders win over the Toronto Argonauts on August 20, 2022. Sceviour won a Gray with the Stampeders in 2018 Cup Calgary defeated the Ottawa Redblacks 27-16. In 2022, he was a CFL West All-Star. Sceviour played his Canadian collegiate football at the University of Calgary for five years, from 2003 to 2017, and was the Stampeders’ first-round pick, eighth overall in the 2018 Canadian Football League Draft.

James Tuck

The Aurora, Ontario native signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on February 13th. He has played 91 games in the CFL since 2016. As a fullback, Tuck played with the Montreal Alouettes in 2016 and 2023, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2016, the Toronto Argonauts in 2017, the Edmonton Football Team from 2017 to 2021 and the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2022. He has one career rush for five yards and 16 catches for 140 yards. Tuck, a Gray Cup winner with the Alouettes in 2023, was drafted in the fourth round out of York University and was taken 31st overall by the Alouettes in 2014.
