The Northwest Territories made a magical comeback on Tuesday at the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary, Alberta. The Northwest Territories trailed Danielle Inglis of Ontario 0-7 after three finals, but marched all the way back to win 10-9. The Northwest Territories’ skip is Kerry Galusha and their fourth stone thrower is Jo-Ann Rizzo.

They were able to overcome a six-point deficit three times at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. However, no team has ever trailed by a touchdown and delivered a W.

The most notable game on Tuesday was the evening’s draw, when Ontario’s Rachel Homan defeated Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones 7-5 in a battle of world champions. A pivotal moment came in the seventh when Jones scored on her final shot and rolled out, allowing Homan to score twice and take a 6-5 lead. After a steal in the ninth, Homan won the game with a spectacular double takeout as Jones scored two points from the four-footer.

Homan discusses her game-winning shot.

“I feel pretty good with my sweepers,” Homan explains. “They make me feel like I can do anything out there. Tracy also did a great job with the phone line.”

Two teams are currently undefeated. Ontario leads Group B with five wins and zero losses, and Alberta leads Group A with five wins and zero losses.
