Tristan Jarry of Surrey, British Columbia, recorded his 18th career National Hockey League shutout on Monday. He achieved this in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 3-0 win over the Seattle Kraken.

Jarry made a total of 22 saves for the shutout. He made six saves in the first period, nine times in the second period and seven times in the third period. Defenders Jamie Oleksiak of Toronto, Ont., Oliver Bjorkstrand and Tomas Tatar each had three shots on goal to lead Seattle. The Kraken had won nine straight games before Monday’s loss, a franchise mark.

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Sidney Crosby of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia led the Penguins’ offense with two goals. Crosby won a gold medal for Canada Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and that 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

In 29 games this season, Jarry has a record of 12 wins, 12 regulation losses and four overtime losses, with a 2.48 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. Jarry also has five shutouts, which is the most shutouts in the NHL. He is tied with Arizona Coyotes goaltender Connor Ingram of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The Penguins improved to a record of 21 wins, 15 regulation losses and six overtime losses, for 48 points. They are one point behind the Tampa Bay Lightning for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
