Mexico /

The mining projects for the exploitation of gold over the next four years in Mexico add investments of $ 2,179 million (millions of dollars), led by Canadian mining companies, which will participate with $ 1,339 million, or 61% of the investment in 10 deposits.

Figures from the Chamber of Mines of Mexico (Camimex) indicate that there are a total of 14 projects that are being evaluated to advance in their construction or move closer to it, this is a portfolio that shows that investors continue to trust Mexico.

Among the most relevant projects for Canadian investment are those of Torex Gold, with $ 482 million, in Minera Media Luna, Guerrero, scheduled for 2024; followed by Equinox Gold, which plans the expansion of Los Filos, which is estimated to cost $ 213 million.

Mining company Alamos Gold is leading the El Yaqui project, which involves an investment of $ 137 million, and Telson Mining’s Tahuehueto project, in Durango, which is under construction and will be completed by the end of this year.

The feasibility study for the Camino Rojo project of the Canadian company Orla Mining, in Zacatecas, envisages surface mining with an annual gold production estimated at 97,000 ounces. The start of construction of the project was approved at the end of 2019 and the start of operations is scheduled for mid-2021.

In addition to investments by Canadian companies, the projects of the Mexican mining company Fresnillo stand out, which has four projects to be carried out over the next four years with investments totaling $ 840 million, which represents 42% of the total.
