Sun Life Results
Insurer Sun Life Financial Inc. will report its third-quarter results after financial markets close on Monday. The company reported second-quarter net income of $660 million, down from $930 million a year earlier, while underlying net income for the quarter ended June 30 was $920 million Decrease from $808 million in the year-ago quarter.
CPP investments
John Graham, CEO of CPP Investments, will provide an update on the performance of the Canada Pension Plan fund in Calgary on Tuesday. Alberta is considering a plan for the province to exit the Canada Pension Plan and establish its own provincial alternative.
Loblaw results
Loblaw Cos. Ltd. is expected to report its third-quarter results and hold a conference call with investors and financial analysts on Wednesday morning. The company last week raised concerns about its food code of conduct, which is nearing completion, suggesting the guidelines could increase food prices.
Economic data
Statistics Canada will release two key reports on Wednesday that will show how the economy fared in September. The agency is expected to release its monthly manufacturing survey and wholesale figures for September.
Home sales
The Canadian Real Estate Association is expected to release its October home sales figures on Wednesday. The association reported that home sales increased 1.9 percent in September compared to the same month last year, while sales in September fell 1.9 percent month-over-month.
