After a distinguished career spanning three decades, Carol Love announces her departure Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA).

Her departure marks the end of a memorable era in which Love left an indelible mark on the sport of rowing in Canada.

Over the course of her extensive coaching career, Love has led many female rowers to the podium at all levels of the sport, guided by the principles of care and compassion – most recently coaching the women’s eight to a bronze medal as well as the 2022 World Rowing Championships and Olympic qualifying row -World Championships in 2024.

Away from the water, the 1976 Olympian has played an integral role in developing the next generation of Olympians and coaches at RCA. Her commitment to excellence has been instrumental in inspiring and promoting the growth and success of Canadian rowing.

“Carol’s contributions to the sport of rowing in Canada cannot be overstated,” said Adam Parfitt, High Performance Director at RCA. “Carol always challenged us to be better and do better. She came into the program at such a critical time when trust needed to be restored, and she succeeded. We are deeply grateful for her leadership and the legacy she leaves behind.”

As Love reflected on her departure, she expressed pride and optimism. “I joined the NTC team as we navigated a period of uncertainty and lack of trust,” Love said. “A bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships, followed by a Henley victory over the British and finally qualifying the boat for the 2024 Olympics in Paris – that is my goal. Getting the team back to the top of the podium in Paris will require more skills to lead the way. It’s time for me to reclaim the other parts of my life and I’m looking forward to it. My desire is to leave behind a culture where trust, integrity and a caring team of athletes and staff can work together to achieve success together.”

RCA deeply thanks Carol Love for her contribution to our sport. We wish her all the best for her next chapter.
