The Association of Certified Protocol Practitioners in Nigeria (ACPPN) has sympathized with the Canadian government over the fire outbreak at the Canadian High Commission to Nigeria in Abuja.
ACPPN President Michael Ikinbor assured the Canadian mission of the association’s full support in a statement issued by spokesman Olatutu Oladunni.
Ikinbor appealed to the mission to maintain calm and peace during this difficult time.
The President expressed direct and indirect sympathy for those affected and described the incident as unfortunate.
“May God strengthen the families who lost their loved ones and restore all that they lost.”
“I wish those still fighting for their lives in the hospital a speedy recovery and perfect health,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that two people were killed and two others injured in an explosion at part of the Canadian High Commission in Abuja on Monday.
Global Affairs Canada said in a statement released Monday that the cause of the explosion was being investigated and the high commission would be temporarily closed.
The closure means that visa and immigration services for people wishing to visit or emigrate to Canada have been suspended until further notice. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
