Justin Kendrick was named to the Canadian Para Pan Am Games team

by Horace Rogers

On Friday, the Canadian Paralympic Association announced the names of 9 athletes who will travel to Chile this fall to compete in the Parapana Am Games in badminton and wear the red maple leaf.

While it’s Justin Kendrick’s first time competing in the Parapan Ams, he’s worn red and white quite a bit over the past year.

In 2022 he competed in the World Championships and the Pan Ams, while this year he went to Germany where he competed in the World Dwarf Games.

“I worked hard last year to get nominated for the Parapan Am Games,” said Kendrick. “I’m really looking forward to competing in my first multisport event.”

In addition to taking part in the men’s singles tournament, Justin will also compete in the mixed doubles with his partner Colleen Cloettta. Colleen is a fierce competitor; She has represented Canada in track and field and swimming, and in 2019, at just 14 years old, she was Canada’s youngest athlete at the Games in Lima, Peru.

Kendrick and Cloetta recently teamed up for the Brazil and Canadian Open tournaments in 2024.

The Santiago Parapan Am Games 2023 takes place from November 17th to 26th and is the qualification for the Paralympic Games Paris 2024.
