PHOTOS: Maple Ridge welcomes Canadian classic rock legends to Rock Maple Ridge

Despite the sweltering weekend temperatures, thousands of locals flocked to the Albion Fairgrounds to watch a variety of classic rock bands play some of Canada’s biggest hits of the 1970s and 1980s.

Rock Maple Ridge organizer Bernie Aubin, who also happens to be the drummer for the band Headpins, said the festival was once again a huge success.

“The audience absolutely loved it,” said Aubin. “And next year we’re coming back bigger and worse.”

Acts that performed at the Maple Ridge Festival included Harlequin, Chilliwack, Trooper, Teenage Head, Sass Jordan, Kim Mitchell, Tom Cochrane and many more.

Aubin explained that attendance had fallen slightly compared to last year, which he attributed to several factors including the unbearable heat, which reached 33ºC during the festival.

However, he’s still pleased with the turnout and expects an even bigger audience for next year’s Rock Maple Ridge.

“I think next year will be our biggest yet,” Aubin said. “We will have a lot of youngsters on stage.”
