Vancouver Islanders on the new season of The Amazing Race Canada

Two couples – one from Courtenay and one from Comox Valley – are among the ten teams competing for the show’s grand prize, which includes $250,000 in cash, a world tour and two new vehicles.

Four contestants from Vancouver Island will join the ninth season of tonight The Amazing Race Canada Premieres at 9 p.m. on CTV.

Courtenay couple Allie Sellers, 48, and Eddie Parinas, 52, and Comox Valley natives Tyler Turner, 35, and Kayleen VanderRee, 31, are among ten teams competing for the show’s top prize of US$250,000 -Dollar includes cash, a trip around the world and two new vehicles.

VanderRee is a commercial scuba diver, while Turner, a bilateral below-knee amputee, won Canada’s first bronze and gold medals in snowboarding at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games. Seller and Parinas have five children together and work as health, fitness and business coaches.

Other contestants on the show include pro wrestlers, drag queens and YouTube stars.

The popular show will be hosted by Jon Montgomery from Victoria, a Manitoban who won a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics. According to CTV, The Amazing Race Canada was the top-rated Canadian television show of 2021–22, with a seasonal average of 1.6 million viewers.

The Amazing Race Canada airs every Tuesday through mid-September at 9 p.m. on CTV.
